Who We Treat

We mainly treat mild to moderate symptoms of developmental delay in children aged 3-7, with the aim to reintegrate them back into mainstream school. Some common symptoms that we address include:

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Some characteristics of a hyperactive child includes: squirming, fidgeting, talking too much, making careless mistakes or take unnecessary risks, and those having a hard time resisting temptation.

Internalizing Problems

These includes children who are incredibly withdrawn, shyness, decreased interest in normal activities, reduced ability to concentrate, and avoidance

Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)

These includes children who are aggressive towards others(biting, pushing, hitting), and have difficulty following rules.

Sensory Processing Disorder

These includes children that are hypersensitive or hyposensitive to certain stimuli and sensations.

Assessments

IQ Test

The Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) provides a score that represents intellectual functioning in verbal and performance cognitive domains, and a child’s general intellectual ability.

School Readiness Test

Assess the child’s readiness for primary school measuring cognitive abilities, language abilities, fine and motor skills, emotional development and independence

Behavioural-emotional Test

Assesses the child’s developmental milestones to check if there are any delays that can be mitigated.

Developmental Test

Clinical interviews with parents and child, and questionnaires completed by parents, teachers and other people who observe the child in different settings.

Treatments

Occupational Therapy

Helps children develop their gross and fine motor skills to perform everyday tasks, such as dressing, eating, and writing, by improving their physical, cognitive, and motor abilities.

Sensory Integration Therapy

Aim to better understand and respond to sensory information in the tactile, vestibular, proprioceptive, visual auditory, olfactory, gustatory and interoceptive system. Symptoms in children include distress and strong reactions (hypersensitivity) from any stimuli or behaviours that seeks out strong sensory input and difficulty recognizing stimuli (hyposensitive).

Speech Therapy

Supports children in improving their ability to speak, understand language, and communicate effectively, including addressing challenges with speech or swallowing.

Play Therapy

Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, and play to help children express their feelings, build problem-solving skills, and cope with emotions or difficult experiences.

Behaviour Therapy

Focuses on changing behaviours that are considered harmful or undesirable through creating associations and reinforcements on those desired behaviours. Common techniques include applied behaviour analysis.

Early Intervention Program

Intervention program for children aged 4-6, aimed at developing their social, emotional, and behavioral skills. In this class, children will learn together with other children who have similar challenges. Our early intervention programs will be guided by “coaches” who have the ability to guide children. Our class curriculum uses a student-centered approach, meaning all sessions will be tailored to the children’s needs. Activities may include circle time, discussions, role-playing, motor activities, coached play, compliment circles, and homework done together with parents.
